Position Summary
A postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Liang Shan in the Division of Infectious Diseases at Washington University School of Medicine. The newly established lab mainly focuses on HIV infection in novel humanized mouse models and virus-specific human immune responses. The lab is housed in The Andrew M. and Jane M. Bursky Center for Human Immunology & Immunotherapy Programs. This position will provide an excellent opportunity for the successful candidate to pursue a career in the field of virology/immunology.
Required Qualifications:
• A PhD degree in molecular biology, microbiology, immunology or a similar field.
• Excellent skills in cell cultures and molecular biology, including cloning, mutagenesis, sequencing and sequence analysis, RNA assays and protein analysis (Western blot, FACS and ELISA).
• Willingness to conduct research using mouse models.
• Strong written and oral communication skills are essential, as evidenced by high-quality international peer-reviewed journals.
• Ability to work independently and communicate with laboratory staff and investigators.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Background in virology or immunology.
• Previous research experience with HIV or other lentiviruses.
• Previous research experience with human peripheral blood mononuclear cells.
• Previous research experience with mice including generation of knockout/knockin mouse strains, mouse breeding and genotyping, processing and analysis of mouse tissues.
