This book is the direct offspring of Viral Pathogenesis,
- z: n" s# J" O. jpublished in 1997. Having read several drafts of all the: A. g) u4 ~' C6 h3 x) r; V
chapters in Viral Pathogenesis, it was clear that the large

unsuited for readers who desired an introduction to the

An introductory text clearly benefits from the* R; \2 S* e3 k

by an expert in the specific area under consideration.
